Winners AVA/Pfizer Practice of Excellence

Summer Street Vet Clinic (SSVC) has been confirmed as one of the top Veterinary Practices of Excellence in AUSTRALIA winning the prestigious AVA/Pfizer Practices of Excellence Award.

This award recognises outstanding service, with emphasis on the importance of customer service and Veterinary Practice Management.

A big thanks goes to all our loyal clients for their support and feedback and helping us to continue to improve, a great team who are simply the BEST andall our 2,3 and 4 legged friends – you make it all worthwhile!!

Amazingly this award and recognition has been achieved after only 2 years in business!

 

 

Our Team

Sarah Britton

Sarah & Ruby

Dr Sarah Britton graduated from Sydney University in 1990 and worked in mixed practice, before returning to the University to do a year of advanced training in small animal medicine and surgery. Sarah then worked in small animal practice in Sydney and Melbourne. In 1994, she undertook further study and successfully completed the exams for membership to the Australian College of Vet Scientists in Small Animal Medicine. For 2 years, she worked as the technical services vet (NSW) for IAMS pet foods, and regularly conducted seminars on nutrition and provided information to breeders, pet owners and vets.


From 2001 to 2005, she successfully owned and ran a small animal veterinary practice in Melbourne.


Since being at Summer Street Vet Clinic (SSVC), Sarah has completed courses on arthritis in dogs and cats, and the healthcare and diseases of rabbits and rodents. SSVC is one of only a handful of clinics that has staff trained to deal with rabbits, rodents and wildlife, and has the facilities to provide critical care and nutrition.


Sarah’s special interests are small animal medicine and nutrition. Her support crew consists of her family, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and 3 hens.


Jasmin Mowbray

 

Photo of JasminJasmin has moved to Orange from the Blue Mountains, and  has recently graduated from Sydney University with First Class Honours. Her honours research project was on exudative dermatitis in Brushtail possums.

Jasmin has a special interest in surgery, birds and wildlife but loves all aspects of veterinary work.

Since being at SSVC Jasmin has completed a course on spinal disease in dogs and later this year will attend a conference on feline internal medicine. She enjoys working at SSVC because of its friendly atmosphere, nice clients and genuine care for the patients. 

In her free time, Jasmin enjoys spending time with her tame cockatiel, Penny Lane and has started work on a vege patch at home.

 

 

 


 

Susie Patey


Susie and her mate MaccaSusie is a qualified Veterinary Nurse with twelve years experience. She received a State Award for her Veterinary Nursing Certificate in 1994. Susie is a member of the VNCA (Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia) and is currently working towards Accreditation in Veterinary Nursing.


An experienced Veterinary Nursing Teacher, with a Degree in Vocational Education and Training, Susie has completed further education in Critical Care and Intensive Nursing, Veterinary Anaesthesia and Dog Behaviour.  Susie attends the VNCA International Conference each year to ensure that she stays up to date with the latest knowledge and skills in the veterinary nursing field. Her particular interests include Emergency and Critical Care, Senior Pet Care and Animal Behaviour. 


Practice Manager and Clinical nurse is Susie’s role at Summer Street Vet Clinic and she is currently completing her Diploma in Practice Management at the University of New England. Susie will also be attending a Dental Care Workshop in June so she will be able to offer you the latest in Pet Dental Home Care advice.


Puppy Preschool classes are one of Susie’s special interests and are held at the clinic on Tuesday or Thursday nights.


Susie’s spare time is spent with her family and two cats and one very spoilt Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.


Susie is dedicated to the gentle and professional care of all patients and is looking forward to giving individual care and time to you and your pet.


Samantha Spicer

 

Sam and MischiefSam is one of our lovely trainee veterinary nurses. She completed her HSC in 2006 at James Sheahan Catholic High School which included Animal Care Studies at TAFE. She completed Certificate II in Animal Studies last year and is now completing Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Sam is also currently completing her Certificate in Microchip Implantation.

 

Working as a trainee veterinary nurse is a constant learning experience and is always give opportunities to further her education by attending courses and conferences. She loves and enjoys every part of her job and feels that this is the best career opportunity she has every been given.

 

When Sam is not busy caring for animals at work, she is with at home completing TAFE assignments or having fun with her animals. She lives on a property which she loves. Sam has a beautiful thoroughbred horse “Magic” how is 18 years old and she loves to ride. Her animal family also includes plenty of geese and chickens, two very energetic guinea pigs, three Hereford steers and the latest addition to the family is 3 month old Ragdoll kitten “Mischief”. (Her name says it all). Sam believes her life would not be the same without her animals.


Cameron Clout

Image fo Cameron CLoutCameron completed his School Certificate in 2008 at Orange High School. While still at school Cam started working with us as an animal attendant. As soon as he finished school he was employed at Summer Street et Clinic as a trainee veterinary nurse. Cam is genuinely passionate about veterinary nursing. He is a very friendly member of staff and is very keen to learn new skills.

Cameron completed Certificate II in Animal Studies his year and is now commencing his Certificate IV eterinary Nursing training. Cameron is about to complete his training in Microchip Implantation, which will mean all our nurses will be qualified to mplant microchips. As a trainee veterinary nurse Cameron has learnt any skills & techniques to help him with his career, and has found that in veterinary nursing he is constantly and enthusiastically learning new & exciting things.

Cameron lives on a a property & when not working, he enjoys taking his dog on long walks around the farm as well as spending time with the other various animals on his family farm. Cameron looks forward to working with you and your much loved pets.
