Consultations

You will receive a private consultation that consists of a one on one discussion with the vet of your choice about the health and behavioural concerns of your pet. Your pet will have a complete health check and receive a 15 point report card with treatment recommendations. If follow up visits are required, then it is strongly encouraged to continue treatment with your vet of choice.

Hospitalisation

We understand that it's hard to leave a family member in hospital. It is our aim to make this experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible by providing a caring and clean environment. Our team’s compassion and commitment gives you peace of mind. The highest standard of comfortable accommodation is available for each patient. All wards are fully air conditioned to ensure your pet is comfortable. The hospital area is sound proofed to help reduce excess noise to our sick patients.  We also use the latest in “dry bed” technology to ensure your pet is always comfortable.

You are encouraged to visit your pet whilst in hospital and we cater for regular visits! Please ask to inspect our practice next time you visit.

Nutrition and Health Products

We stock a wide range of premium quality diets for dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. These are designed to provide optimum nutrition for all stages of life. This means they will have glossy coats, small, “less smelly”, faeces which are easy to pick up , and things to help with their joints, weight or bowel movements. We also carry a large range of prescription diets which assist in the management of specific medical conditions.

In addition we stock a wide range of high quality preventative health care products such as arthritis supplements, shampoos and pet accessories to keep your pet safe and happy all of the time!

Puppy Preschool

Puppy Pre School classes for our younger patients help start them off on the right paw! These courses are expertly run by Susie who has many years of experience and has recently updated her training. Susie looks forward to providing you and your puppy with the skills and experience to grow a life-long friendship. Classes are held at the hospital and are designed to socialise puppies, identify and remedy early behavioural problems and teach you how to teach and care for your dog!

“Drop Off” Service

We understand that in today’s busy world convenience is critical, so we have introduced a “drop off” service. If you are from out of town or work, school and family commitments make appointments difficult, simply drop your pet off with us in the morning for a stay in our comfortable pet hospital.

One of our veterinary staff will tend to your pets needs and provide you with a telephone report during the day. Then you can pick up your pet at a convenient time during the afternoon. There is no additional charge for this service.

Home visits—Pick up—Delivery

It is usually quicker and less expensive to bring your pet to the hospital. However, where this is not practical, we can arrange either a house call by one of the veterinarians or for your pet to be collected and delivered back to you by a veterinary nurse.

Radiology and Ultrasound

We have the technology, equipment and ability to x-ray or ultrasound your pet at our premises, in the comfort of our dedicated radiology suite. This means that you can get a quicker answer for your pet’s problem.

Pathology

Regular blood testing is important especially if your pet is senior (ie greater than 7 yrs), so early changes can be detected and treated to ensure a long and happy life. At Summer Street Vet clinic, we can get quick results and faster treatment for your pet with our “in house pathology machine”. We will also send some of the blood tests and biopsies to an external lab to get a pathologists expert opinion.

Surgery

At Summer Street Vet Clinic, your pet can receive their complete treatment at the one location. If your pet requires emergency surgery, then it will be done with no waiting time and you have a dedicated vet who knows the whole history of your pet. Desexing is strongly encouraged and this is performed 5 days per week.

All surgical cases are constantly monitored by experienced staff and are made very comfortable in recovery with hot water bottles, snuggly blankets and heatmats.
