Dr Sarah Britton
Dr Sarah Britton graduated from Sydney University in 1990 and worked in mixed practice, before returning to the University to do a year of advanced training in small animal medicine and surgery. Sarah then worked in small animal practice in Sydney and Melbourne. In 1994, she undertook further study and successfully completed the exams for membership to the Australian College of Vet Scientists in Small Animal Medicine. For 2 years, she worked as the technical services vet (NSW) for IAMS pet foods, and regularly conducted seminars on nutrition and provided information to breeders, pet owners and vets. From 2001 to 2005, she successfully owned and ran a small animal veterinary practice in Melbourne.
Since being at Summer Street Vet Clinic (SSVC), Sarah has completed courses on arthritis in dogs and cats, and the healthcare and diseases of rabbits and rodents. SSVC is one of only a handful of clinics that has staff trained to deal with rabbits, rodents and wildlife, and has the facilities to provide critical care and nutrition. Sarah’s special interests are small animal medicine and nutrition. Her support crew consists of her family, Lilly the dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and 5 chooks.
Dr Kimberley Rikard-Bell
Kimberley graduated from Sydney University with 1st class honours in 2004 and has spent the last 6 years in mixed practice on the mid-north coast and Singleton in the Hunter Valley.
Kimberley hails from Milvale - a tiny village between Temora and Young where she grew up on a farm surrounded by a menagerie of animals.
Kimberley is in the process of completing further study in medical oncology for animals - cancer management and chemotherapy. She has interests in all facets of veterinary work and enjoys a morning run with her RSPCA rescue dog “Woody”. Kimberley's family is complete with a crazy Burmese cat named “Rumble”.
Susie Patey
Susie has been at Summer Street Vet Clinic since its opening in January 2007. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse with 16 years experience and received a State Award for her Veterinary Nursing Certificate in 1994. Susie is a member of the VNCA (Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia) and is currently working towards Accreditation in Veterinary Nursing.
Susie is dedicated to ensuring that she stays up to date with the latest knowledge and skills in the veterinary nursing field, by continually training and attending courses. Her particular interests include Animal Behaviour, Senior Pet Care and Dental Care. Susie has completed her Diploma in Veterinary Practice Management, and most recently attended the Animal Behaviour Conference at the University of Sydney.
You will see Susie in reception most days where she loves to greet clients and their much loved pets. She is very knowledgeable in all aspects of health care and can help you out with information on nutrition, behaviour, dental care and parasite control.
Puppy Preschool classes are held by Susie at the clinic on Thursday nights. She also is very involved in organising our very popular client information nights. Susie will welcome you into our clinic with friendly and professional care.
Jessica Morgan
Jess has moved to Molong from the Blue Mountains in December 2011 and has joined the Summer Street Vet Clinic team as one of our caring veterinary nurses. Also joining her are her 3 cats, MJ, JD and Tigger, plus her jungle python - Bonnie.
She has always dreamed of working with animals since she was a child. Her passion is caring for all animals, big and small, from reptiles to large livestock.
Jess has been a vet nurse since 2008 and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010. In 2012 she will undergo her diploma of anaesthesia and critical care. Her ultimate goal is to work as a wildlife nurse at a zoo.
Jess is especially interested in taking care of your furry friends while they go undergo surgery. She loves to monitor their anaesthetics and takes special care to ensure that they recover comfortably. Jess also loves getting to know the clients and their paw friends, and helping you with any concerns you may have from worming and vaccinations to behaviour and nutrition.
Laura Bullock
Laura started at the clinic in January as a work experience student. She is now working with us as a trainee veterinary nurse. Laura is currently studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Orange TAFE. She is a keen student and fast learner and loves taking care of all your family pets. Laura does our in house Day Spas and loves making them look and feel great. She lives with her parents and owns a beautiful, senior Border Collie named Meg.
